Frequently asked questions
Do I need a Concept2 or smart erg?
No. RowUp detects strokes from your Apple Watch accelerometer, so it works with any rowing machine. If you do have a Concept2 or FTMS-compatible erg, you can connect it via Bluetooth for additional metrics.
How accurate is the stroke detection?
The algorithm uses adaptive peak detection with per-user calibration. After a short calibration session, most users see accuracy within a few strokes over a full workout. The app includes a calibration tool to tune detection to your rowing style.
What Apple Watch do I need?
RowUp requires watchOS 26 and works on any Apple Watch that supports it. The app uses the built-in accelerometer and heart rate sensor.
